*** RESOURCE PRESERVATION & WATERSHED ENHANCEMENT PLAN
The WQCC in cooperation with the SWCD will be administering nearily one (1) million in federal grants secured by Congressman James T. Walsh. The grant will be used to develop this plan which will address such issues as: Aluminum Sulfate applications, Lime applications, alternative methods to control aquatic weeds, land-use and overall water quality enhancement & protection. *** WQCC TO ADMINISTER STORMWATER GRANT
The NYS Department of State has recently announced a $63,000 grant for the Wayne County Water Quality Coordinating Committee for our Public Watershed Assistance Program. This grant will be used to help homeowners protect water quality in several ways: 1) repairing septic systems on public lands, 2) fencing livestock out of streams, 3)building proper pesticide mixing facilities and livestock fencing projects, 4) to establish marine pump-out facilities and 5) to establish stormwater erosion control projects. *** WQCC CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

*** WATERSHED BOOK
An 87 page book on Wayne County's freshwater resources. This book is a great source of water quality information including color photographs of local waterways. A $10.00 donation towards reprinting is requested, but not mandatory. Also available on CD-ROM. Check-it-out!
*** WATER CHESTNUT ALERT
The Water Chestnut is an exotic aquatic plant that threatens local waterways. Left uncontrolled this plant has the potential to render local waterways un-usable. *** WATER QUALITY BULLETIN
A bi-annual newsletter that focusses entirely on Wayne County's Freshwater Resources. If you would like to receive this exciting newsletter just leave your name and address on our website "guestbook" or call us at (315) 946-4136. Great way to keep informed of water resource activities. FREE!

*** CERTIFIED WATER TESTING
The WQCC is offering "certified" water testing for total and fecal coliform bacteria. The testing follows EPA Standard Methods and is APHA Certified. Have your drinking water tested today! For more information call (315) 946-4136.
*** LOCAL WATERSHED GRANTS AVAILABLE TO HOMEOWNERS
The WQCC is offering grants to homeowners, farms and marine business for SEPTIC SYSTEM repairs, PESTICIDE MIXING FACILITIES and MARINE PUMP OUT facilities. Applications are available at your local town office (Wayne County Only) or by calling 946-4136.
*** MODEL SEPTIC SYSTEM ORDINANCE
A model ordinance for consideration by local towns.
*** LAKE ONTARIO EMBAYMENT INITIATIVE
A 33 page book entitled "New York's North Coast - A Troubled Coastline". Discusses the need for more attention to be given to shoreline embayments and coastal resources.
